Hexamine, with the chemical name hexamethylenetetramine and the molecular formula C₆H₁₂N₄, is an important organic chemical raw material.
It appears as white crystalline powder or colorless crystals, is readily soluble in water and ethanol, and decomposes to form formaldehyde and ammonia when heated to 263℃. It is usually produced industrially by the reaction of aqueous formaldehyde solution with ammonia water, and the reaction equation is: 6HCHO + 4NH₃ → (CH₂)₆N₄ + 6H₂O.

Danger:
Health hazard: Inhaling dust irritates the respiratory tract, and contact with the skin causes allergies. Ingestion by mistake can cause stomach pain and vomiting. The formaldehyde produced during decomposition is a carcinogen.

Storage requirements:
